Our Story

Serving Haitians Since 2008

Harris Lalanne left Haiti in 1993 to create a new life in the United States. He left his homeland to increase his opportunities for success, it was a journey, not all his fellow Haitians could undertake.

Fifteen years after he left, Harris returned to visit College Saint Thomas d’Aquin in Port-au-Prince. It is a primary and secondary school providing education to children of low-income families in Haiti’s capital. Harris analyzed the situation at the school and realized he could offer Haitian children some of the same academic resources he had access to in America. The Lalanne Foundation was formed to achieve this goal.

Our Current Projects

Education Sponsorship Program for Haitian Children

An effort to fund the education of Haitian children from low-income families in Trou du Nord, North-East, Haiti, has been initiated by The Lalanne Foundation. The sponsorship program will offer first-grade girls and boys a well-rounded curriculum and equal learning opportunities.

Disaster Relief in 2010

The Lalanne Foundation responded following the devastating earthquake in January 2010. We raised funds with churches, donated art and science supplies, and paid teacher salaries and children’s tuition, among other things.

How We Help

The Lalanne Foundation helps by funding sponsorship programs for Haitian children, delivering school and hospital supplies, remodeling schools and hospitals after earthquakes, and providing professional development training for classroom teachers.
